COLOR ME . . . . BLOWN AWAY!!!

Any Project Runway fans out there? Those designers are outrageously gifted! By the end of this year’s episodes, I was simultaneously crippled by jealousy and overwhelmed by the need to be creative myself.

These pictures are from my personal portfolio. Crude? Who's to say? But they speak to ME. The far right picture says, "Arbor Day Rapture!" and the left one says, "Fall: Just Another Verb? I think not!"

I'll be sure to send everybody the schedule of when The Guggenheim will be displaying my works when they tour as part of their traveling art exhibit this summer. NOT!!!

It's not fair that I have no artistic talent. As a salt-in-the-wounds kicker, I am surrounded by people who DO possess creative gifts:

My brother is a bona fide artist.
My sister is a certified art instructor.
My own husband can draw a Donald Duck face that would make Walt Disney weep.
My son could be the second coming of a Jim Henson, a Spielberg, a Picasso.
My daughter can write her name in the most luscious, succulent bubble letters.
My youngest daughter? If all the law offices in town lost their prized English prints of those black horses with their tiny heads and staring eyes, she could reproduce them with one palette tied behind her back.
And me? Unless you-all will concede that I've elevated self-pity to an art form, I've got bupkus!!!

It’s funny. Airing this laundry list of petty resentments and personal disappointment makes me hungry. Something sweet perhaps to balance out my sour outlook? Like cookies, candies, or cake. Hey, speaking of cake . . .

CAKE COMMENTS:

“If you canvass this area, everyone’ll say they love Small But Talls,” bragged one fan.
“I’ve told you before,” scolded another, “that these cakes are great. Do I have to draw you a picture?”
Argued one enthusiast, “These cakes may not be ART, but I know what I like!”

CAKE FACTS:

One Small But Tall will feed 1 starving artiste and 14 of his friends or 12 Holiday Inn portrait painters.
